Message from the HOD
It is indeed of pleasure and pride for me to write a message for souvenir of glorious, prestigious, excellent and historical hospital.
My messages to all undergraduate meducal students, postgraduate resients and allied health care professionals is that medicals ethics, professional is that medical ethics, professional excellence
and hard work are backbone of gaining succes and high standards in medical profession. No one should ignore importence of these pillars for quality managment of patient care. Always respect yout teachers
as they are like your father and they treat you like son and they have trvelled a long journey to reach the teaching post of professor to transfer knowledge and experince to you.
INTRODUCTION
Pediatric Department was established in a small room in Outpatient Department of Mayo Hospital Lahore in 1948 by Late Professor SMK Wasti.
Before 2004, this was single Pediatric Unit. The Pediatric Medicine Unit-II was established in November 2004 to provide better health care to increasing
number of patients and to improve the teaching and training of undergraduates and postgraduates. This Department is currently headed by Prof. Iftikhar Ijaz.
Under her leadership PMW Unit-II Is ready to set a new trajectory of excellence and a novel precedent of success. With the great efforts of Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal
and Prof Iftikhar Ijaz Nephrology Unit, Hemodialysis Unit and Pediatric Oncology Unit Is fully established. Unit-II is providing evidence based and up to date learning to its undergraduates
and postgraduates residents.
Objectives And Goals
To provide Quality education, disciplined and practical training to undergraduates and post-graduates.
To improve health care services and develop better communication and counselling skills among undergraduates and postgraduates.
Contemporary research in field of pediatrics.
Evidence based preventive and curative services.
To develop an understanding and commitment to professionalism and ethics in both Medical practice and research
